    Iphone? I just can't see it... It will kill their ipod sales - it will be like shooting themselves in the foot. The reason is that all phones are now free with a contract - we have difficulty in having any value in our phones nowadays.. if you had a free iphone with a contract which had ipod facilities then why would you buy an ipod? It just doesnt make sense.. unless they ONLY sell it sim free. If they do bring one out then i'll certainly buy one, but I am not sure that it is such a good idea... I'd rather they produced a phone/pda hybrid like the xda - I think that this would fit better into their existing product portfolio..

    Hmm... Cinema displays also got a bump.

    20" ACD
    Brightness: 250 cd/m2 -> 300 cd/m2
    Contrast Ratio: 400:1 -> 700:1

    23" ACD
    Brightness: 270 cd/m2 -> 400 cd/m2
    Contrast Ratio: 400:1 -> 700:1
    Nice find, thanks. I was hoping they'd update the displays. Now to see when my local Apple Store will have them in stock :p

    ...Why would I want to waste my time learning shorthand (which makes the assumption that TPCs could handle various forms of shorthand) so I could do through writing what I can already do at 70+ WPM via typing. And with typing, it solves the whole problem of handwriting recognition, because there ISN'T ANY...

    Just for the record, if you can type more than 70 WPM, then your typing speed is well into the top 10%. Average typing speed is around 35 WPM, and most people can write faster than they can type.

    Steve does not have to announce any new products to say they are going to shift to Core 2 across the board ASAP. :)

    That's very true but my response wasn't to that statement but to this one:

    "MBP Merom anyone? Appleinsider has always been reliable...so this may happen. This WWDC is gonna be great!"

    I assumed that WWDC is going to be great because of MPB Merom which I don't think will be announced. :p

    I could be wrong.

    You seem really hung up on the fact that if Lion is sold on the app store it has to act exactly like every thing else on the app store, when that doesn't necessarily have to be the case.

    I'm only "hung up" on that because that's what everything points to right now.

    The current betas of Lion are simply DMGs with install files.

    Wasn't there some talk about Lion having a recovery partition? I would wager, if it did, that is how you would reinstall it without burning a disc.

    While no hard insider information exists pointing to the specs of the new machines, currently Merom tops out at 2.33 GHz, so it is not unreasonable to believe that Apple will use the 2.33 GHz chip in its MacBook Pro, and slightly slower speeds in its MacBooks. Also of note, Merom being a Core 2 Duo chip has architectural advances over Core Duo ("Yonah") such as 64-bit support and a 4 MB L2 Cache in higher end models.

    I would be happy with the *real* replacement for the 12" Powerbook. Can't work with that gloss screen, and can't bear the integrated graphics. Apple need to get real if they want professionals like photographers to buy a new laptop. :confused:

    The G5 is almost as fast per clock cycle.
    Apple COULD have released quad G5 3ghz instead, but they want us to use Intel.

    The whole Intel project is beacuse of no G5 laptop.

    Stupid IBM. I do not like X86, the play plattform.
    But, I have changed all my PPC macs to Intel now.
    Macbook pro, Macbook, macmini and today a Macpro.Congrats on making the shift. I will probably wait for 8 cores. But I am tempted because of the 6 Bays and the additional front ports. Maybe I'll get a refurb in the Fall. Still want a Core 2 MBP more I guess. Really want 8 cores. Might just hold out until Spring so Leopard is inside 8 cores. Love Leopard features. :)

    A company called Ten's Complement is working on ZFS and expect it to be released by this summer.

    Cool, ZFS coming to OS X wouldn't be a negative thing at all. If it comes, great.

    This issue is really starting to frustrate me. iPhone users that I know are starting to freak out because they're getting their information from sensationalized media and don't really understand what's really going on.

    That is one of the reasons Apple can't sit on their hands with this issue - there are too many people getting misinformation that are spreading it to others.

    I don't see what the big deal is. Of course Apple is going to try to minimize the risk of the jailbreak community. They want to avoid headlines about spyware and such that creep out of the jailbroken community. It's just good PR.

    Queue the hitler response.....

    And when Hitler's constituents thought he was wrong, he decided to annihilate those who didn't want to see things his way too. Destroying opposition rather than improving one's self is way's a "#WINNING" thing to do.

    Wow, I gotta get some credit for that one... Charlie Sheen, Apple, and Hitler all in one sentence!

    Why not just go back to the generic BEIGE boxes Apple produced in the 90s?

    Dear Apple

    PLEASE can we have a UI update, even if it's a minor one (for instance, iTunes 10 scrollbars rather than the blue aqua ones). Just some extra polish really.

    Sarcasm online is fun. But you do realize this is correct for software or other media, and not true for hardware. Right?

    You own the piece of hardware, but you only have a license that gives you the right to use the software that is required to operate the hardware.

    The catch, is unlike computers - the hardware in many new devices (phones, routers, TVs, etc), is highly proprietary and the manufacturers of the chips refuse to release any white papers/information sheets on how to program for the chip.

    In other words, you couldn't port Linux to the iPhone if you wanted to. Apple could pull a page out of Motorola's book and make a chip that bricks itself in the face of unsigned, 3rd party hardware.

    Look at the depths Sony is going to in order to keep people from Linux on the PS3 now.

    In a sense, you really DON'T own the hardware in these situations. Frankly, I'm surprised Apple even bothers to sell iPhones, they should just put them out on 2 year leases and then claim the phone back at the end.

    Sorry to be a killjoy but I know for a fact that if this photographer did do any work for Apple he would of had to of signed a non disclosure agreement and as such would of been 100% bound to it, (unless of course he never wanted to work again and get his ass sued off). I know because I am a digital illustrator ( http://www.anthony-robinson.com ) sorry couldn't resist! :D and if I ever do any ad work this is standard practice.
    I'm not denying that Apple might be developing a phone but for sure, this guy knows nothing about it.

    I would say make it even smaller.

    Mac Pro should be based on Mac mini, but with a choice of i7 or Xeon CPU, 6 user-serviceable memory slots, 2-3 expansion slots, and choice of 256 or 512 GB SSD. Complemented by multiple Thunderbolt port, external Superdrive, and Apple's own 5-bay DAS.

    Wow. That must've wasted a ton of your time.

    I don't believe this rumour to be honest, but it's fun to spectulate.

    For goodness sakes, the delivery date aside, Apple has already virtually confirmed that an Apple phone is on the way.

    Free

    Syncing
    Contacts, Calendar, Bookmarks
    Small iDisk
    Find my iDevice
    Web Gallery
    Web Page

    Paid

    iTunes Cloud (Lala music streaming)
    More Sync options
    Larger iDisk Pro (Dropbox like speed)
    Larger Web space and Gallery
    Online Backup
    iWork.com Pro (Collaboration and editing)

    I'm ready to go Google Free. I just need to know Mobileme is worth investing in more.

    I totally agree with this, and would be happy if it worked out like this.

    Ehh, purposeful or not (as a sabotage)...not good news for iPad competition:( Which isnt good news for us iPad users...Apple needs constant pressure to release revolutionary products.

    I do wonder if this is true. They may need the pressure to upgrade specs but the revolutionary products seem to come because that is their passion.
