Fake. Yet another chipset change would lead to many unnecessary problems.

I'm excited but... :( I kind of want to wait for the 800 Mhz FSB that will most likely come out next year. if it comes with a new case with the macbook styled keyboard ill snatch it up. :p
That is going to be a long wait, so you better get ready!
This makes perfect sense as Apple has already dub the Black Macbook the "Top of the Line" yet there isn't really a difference between it and the Midrange so by adding The new processor and graphics chip Apple would essentially create the Top of the Line MacBook
The price difference would be too small for Apple to do too much though, after all I'm pretty sure it does costs Apple a lot more to make a black casing.. plus with Core 2 chips being more expensive than Yonah...

iOS was last announced in April which was slightly later than the year before. I don't see it jumping from April to June for an announcement. It also won't be so heavily cloud based - it's simply wishful thinking.

I like it to show up ready to go.
Plus, I know for sure the apple chosen ram will be flawless...
This is a rev. A. ;)I wasn't trying to put a digg on you, you're machine is awesome, but not everyone can put down the amount of money you did and aftermarket helps. But you're super stoked nonethelss. :D

If this forum would allow me to rate this story, I'd rank the outcome as Positive!

To be clear... that was for the standalone iSight camera not the embedded iSight camera's available in the iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, etc.

Merom and Yonah are replacements for Pentium-M. While Conroe is the replacement for the Pentium D.
That is just marketing. In reality, Merom, Conroe and Woodcrest are all based on exactly the same archicture, with Merom optimised for low power consumption and Conroe optimised for clock speed.

I like the competition, and the cloud concept is definitely promising, but I don't think this is a solution I want. Call me pessimistic, but I don't want to rely on another entity for access to my own information. I don't want to store all my music and movies "in the cloud" and hope there is no complications. Rather, what I want is to be able to access my home computer via the cloud, but if all else fails, it's still saved on my home computer, not some remote server I can't access

I'm sure many people have asked this throughout the thread already, but is it worth it for me, if I've been waiting all summer, to continue waiting possibly into the start of school (I'm a freshman entering college) for the release of Merom in MB/MBP? My classes start Sept. 11th, but I don't know how long I'd survive without a computer.
Do you guys foresee the release of Merom before that date?

Oh I hope for these to be false, I hate cell phones and I don't want to hate an apple product. But if they did make a phone it would require the following features.
-At least 5 megapixel camera, I'd love to minimize the amount of things in my pocket by combing my camera and my cell phone ( i hate the beast but my mother makes me carry it) but there isint a camera phone good enough to actually use to take a picture other than an imac G5 in an elevator.
- The inablilty to do "texting :) :) :) :) :) :) " although there would be an option for "texting" but if someone were to select it a dialogue would come up , "YOU ARE RETARDED, just call them." the only option would be, "get hit by a bus"

I don't, either. That's why I'm polite enough to make sure my PC friends are running anti-virus software, to protect them from malware, no matter where it may come from.
Eventually Macs will get viruses too.
What's the big deal? It's free and it runs well on my Mac. It's just extra protection for my Mac and for my PC friends.

Apple can't not update at least the top-end MacBooks. Dell & Co. will be putting Core 2 in comparably priced machines - $1299/1499 - as the price breaks down similarly to Core Duo chips.
Apple doesn't want switchers going "hmmm, I can get a MacBook for <x> or a Dell with a better newer processor for the same."

Also, if you hit the EJECT key on the keyboard while you have two optical drives installed, will they both open?
Questions, questions...
On my dual G4, the Eject key opens the top tray, and Option Eject opens the bottom. I suspect it is the same...

Oh wow, I am excited just at the thought that they might hopefully be heading in this direction, regardless of when it finally happens.
I'm a programmer and spend my day looking at text in an IDE on a couple of 27" cinema displays. When I look at my iPhone 4 and see how amazingly crisp and clear text is on the retina display and then look back to my computer screen, I weep quietly inside.
The 27" screens are beautiful, but the retina display on my phone just shows how amazing they could be.
Im interested in what Apple will do with the 15 MBP. If Apple doubled the resolution of the 1440x900 display, then going from a 1680x1050 MBP to this new 2880x1800 MBP means an increase in DPI but a decrease in viewable information.
Hopefully they will include a scaling ability as well for those who don't mind shrinking everything down to fit more on the screen as well (which would address the problem mentioned above).
There is lots of potential for screens with such a high DPI :D

All I am thinking about after this news is the release date of the Iphone 6.
Me too.
This year I'll have some fun with Android, since Apple's coasting. It's their loss and my gain.
Besides it's very fun to check out what's up with the competition first hand.
Thanks Apple!

Do you usually carry 42" screens with you? No? That's what I thought....
It is excellent that you can play movies it on an iPod, but I hardly think that is enough to launch "screenplay". Most people want to see a movie on a large screen, not a computer or an iPod. Hence Apple need to release a Media Mac filling this gap. It could be as simple as a Mac Mini with a BTO Tv-tuner and a beefed up Frontrow.

Finally, they'll be charging what the service is worth!
So true. I doubt this will happen though.

Intel has been a Microsoft bitch for the past twenty years and it shows. They did everything they did to keep the 8086 instruction set running for every piece of screwed up DOS code written by guy with more karma than formal CS educations.
You do realize that this was mostly driven by multi-national corporations that didn't want to pay software engineers money to update all of the ancient legacy software right? Do you also believe MS wanted IE6 to stick around for 10 years?

Please don't mess with the keyboard. The Macbook keyboard wouldn't suit the Macbook Pro.
The Macbook keyboard doesn't fit the macbook. I'm sure people with large hands love it, but those of us with smaller hands really have to reach.

:mad::mad: I am seriously starting to get pissed.
Now you know why the Vatican is getting concerned.
Knowledge is now universal, on a massive scale, and the masters of spin are hard-pressed to jump into the fray.
I want to be around for the next 10 years, just to watch. :D

Did Apple say the same thing when someone challenged their Newton?
No, because Apple alone took the (correct) decision of withdrawing the Newton from the market at a time when safekeeping of resources and efforts was a crucial factor for the company.
In fact, the Newton had much better prospects at its last days, instead of its market introduction period...in the beginning, handwriting recognition was far from good, the device was underpowered and little demand existed...
The bottomline is: when a CEO starts talking too much, this means he IS worried...it was the same for Creative, Real and now Palm...they are almost dead with their crappy PDAs, just as Microsoft with its zillionth iPod-killer and Windows.
